2015 was one of the earliest harvests in Thelema history. Great fruit quality from both Thelema and Sutherland Vineyards.
We hosted a dinner of a Rebellious nature in partnership with Slippery Spoon pop up events and Walter Battiss Co at the beautiful Centre of the Book in Cape Town. Guests were wowed by dishes served on Battiss plates paired perfectly with wines from Thelema.
The smell and buzz associated with the annual wine grape harvest always takes one back to the fond memories of previous harvests at Thelema. It’s quite a laugh to see how people (and their dress styles) have changed over the years.
The grape harvest must be one of the most exciting seasons on a wine estate. Tractors are heavily laden with grapes, days are hot and sunny and we’re welcomed into the office with the sweet smell of white wine fermentation tanks bubbling away in the cellar. Bliss!
It’s not often that we get the chance to taste Thelema Cabernet Sauvignon dating back to 1999. And what a tasting experience it was.
Beautiful scenes from Thelema’s vineyards, situated at the top of the Helshoogte Pass in Stellenbosch – great old oak trees, spectacular mountain views and colourful, noisy peacocks.
In 2002, Thelema purchased an old apple growing farm in Elgin named Sutherland. Sections of the apple orchards were pulled out and replaced with vines. Sutherland Vineyards, a place of unbelievable beauty and serenity situated in the heart of the Kogelberg Biosphere.
The annual Boland Braai at Thelema Mountain Vineyards is a fun and relaxed event held on the lawns of the manor house. What better way to enjoy our long summer evenings than with a glass of Thelema in your hand playing a game of boulles.
