The Abbey Wine Club

The Story

Francois Rabelais was a sixteenth century writer, scholar, physician and humanist that wrote the satirical Gargantua and Pantagruel novels, published between 1532 and 1564. In his book, he writes about the Abbey of Thélème, which ultimately lent its name to our vineyards, Thelema.

The Thélèmites lived according to their free will and pleasure with no walls surrounding the Abbey, and without clocks or dials. Their rules had but one clause: Fais ce que vouldras – Do what thou wilt.

For more than 30 years, Thelema’s track record has been one of quality & reliability.

The Abbey Wine Club was established to connect with our customers and give members direct access to the farm to share their Thelema stories. Learn more about the wines, vineyard practices, the sites and climates, the history of the farm and the stories behind the characters.

We invite you to join us on the slopes of the Simonsberg Mountain for exclusive events and private tastings. Become a Thelemite and explore a world of wine without walls.

Nina, our Wine Club Manager, is available to talk wine and help you find the perfect bottle to suit your occasion. Get in touch at [email protected].
